New Driver for GP-55

The GP 55 team and owners, Susie and Scotty Pierce are excited to announce that Dustin Echols will be the teams driver in 2015. Dustin is a very accomplished driver having set UIM records in 2.5 Mod and Grand Prix. Scotty has thought that Dustin was one of the most impressive young drivers for quite sometime, and is looking forward to working with him. Dustin comes from a true boat racing family, as his father Mark, and brother Tyler are both accomplished racers in there own right. We welcome Dustin’s mom, Shelly, and his beautiful wife Rena, and daughter Findley, to our team.
With this decision we had to parts ways with Jamie Nilsen, our 2014 driver. This was truly one of the hardest decisions I have made. Jamie set the new 1 1/4 mile competition record in GPW, the first race he drove the boat. But, for as great of a driver he is, he is even a better person. Jamie, his wife Jessica, and new baby Claire, and his father Jim are truly class acts. We wish them all the best in the future.
So now we turn to what will prove to be a break out year for GPW. We are working on aligning our series with the H1 unlimited series, in a agreement that will be a boost to both of our series, and most importantly a enhanced racing experience for our fans of both classes.
For the GP 55 team we are nearing the end of the repairs from the accident. We have been very blessed to have Scott And Shannon Raney’s team step in to take the lead in rebuilding the boat. This has given us a chance to make more upgrades to our world record holding hull. All of this would not have been possible without the support of my good friends Cindi and Tracy Bratvold, and their company, Whispering Turbines. My crew led by Thomas Seaton, Joel Batchelor, Kevin Milliken, and Jon Seaton, are excited to get our rocket ship back on the water.
