Focus on Engagement, Development and Marketing
Seattle- Grand Prix West (GPW), featuring the world’s fastest automotive powered racing boats, has announced a reorganized organizational structure that will focus on series development, fan engagement and sponsorship marketing.
The Washington based organization, in its eighth year of operation, met recently to create an empowered Board of Directors and Executive Committee to develop a business model and strategic plan that enhances exposure and creates new opportunities for its 175 mile-an-hour supercharged automotive powered boats.
“We recognize that a change is needed to succeed in motorsports these days,” said Scott Pierce, team owner and board member. “We are committed to continue building upon our successes and finding new ways to enhance our value.” Pierce is joined on the Executive Committee by GPW President Larry Linn, Vice President Shawn Bridgeman, Board Member Lori Santillo and newly-appointed CEO Sam Cole. Cole joins Grand Prix West having served as Chairman of ABRA/H1 Unlimited from 2005-2014 and also Executive Director of the Unlimited Racing Commission from 1981-1984.
“We completed research regarding the generational impact on motorsports and will devote a great deal of attention towards Generation X and Millennials,” Cole said. “It is imperative that we create a complete event experience that identifies with people under 40 and particularly the 25-35 year-olds.“
“Automotive power, producing noise you can feel is a strong foundation for building success,” Cole added. “We have a lot of work to do going forward and our first priority is to increase our awareness and engagement from fans, promoters and sponsors.”
The Grand Prix West leadership group is in the process of finalizing its 2016 racing schedule and beginning planning for 2017 and beyond. At least eight teams are anticipated for events, augmented by “independents” from other areas of the country as scheduling permits.
