Hydros for Heroes and Grand Prix West (GPW) are excited to announce that the fastest automotive powered race boats in the world will headline the 2017 event in Oak Harbor, WA., August 19-20, 2017.
“The roar will be coming to our shore”, said Craig McKenzie, chairman of the event. “We look forward to hosting GPW and all of the APBA racers at the August event.”
This is the second year that McKenzie and Jim Woessner of The Craig McKenzie Team of Keller Williams Whidbey Realty and The Craig McKenzie Team Foundation has led the Oak Harbor event and the first time GPW will be participating which is welcome news for Larry Linn, GPW president.
I am thrilled that we will be racing in Oak Harbor and helping them raise money for local charities through the Rotary Club of Oak Harbor,” Linn said.” As a Rotarian, it is great that we can bring our boats and race for such a great cause. I know that our team Owners are committed to participate and cannot wait to bring Grand Prix excitement to the event ”
As many as eight GPW teams will be on hand for the event, which also showcases other APBA categories. But it is the addition of the supercharged Grand Prix’s that will create more local interest and help the event grow.
This is the second new event announced by GPW in the past week. On Friday, a return to the Madison Regatta (June 30-July 2) was made public with more event announcements forthcoming.
