The GPW Board and Team Owners met this past weekend in Seattle and discussed plans for the 2017 racing season, which promises to be an exciting time for the sport. During the next few weeks, the racing schedule will be announced, as event agreements are being finalized and signed.
There could be as many as four new events for the world’s fastest automotive powered boats in 2017, plus returns to some familiar events. Stay tuned as the announcements are slated to begin on December 1!
In other business, the Board moved to change the name of Grand Prix West to Grand Prix World Racing, keeping the familiar GPW in place, but extending the organization’s horizons beyond the west coast. In early 2017, the website and social media sites will be shifting to GPWracing.com.
Much discussion was focused on supporting an expanded racing calendar, approval of pending race agreements and longer term business goals for the series.
“As fans will see over the next few weeks, it will be an exciting time for GPW,” said president Larry Linn. ” we are already starting our team crew nights to prepare for the upcoming season. We will be ready.”
GPW CEO, Sam Cole echoed Linn’s remarks and added,” we are looking forward to establishing supercharged automotive power as a viable, professional racing series and bringing the roar back to the shores along the waterways across the country and beyond in the weeks and months ahead.”
